CSI Fresno Spring 2010 Certifications Study season

One of the most valuable uses you can make of CSI is to obtain certification. Membership is not required to achieve certification, though it will certainly make it cheaper and increase access to study materials and resources.

The CDT – Certified Document Technologist—is the first step in any certification. It signifies a basic understanding of written construction documents, including basic contract and bidding information. To others, it communicates that the CDT knows proper formatting of a Project Manual, and can distinguish what information belongs in which category.

The CCS – Certified Construction Specifier – is one path for secondary certification. Diving deeper into the project manual and specification production, this is the path for a Specifications specialist.

The CCCA – Certified Construction Contract Administrator – is another path of secondary certification. Diving deeper into the instruments of Construction Contracts and modifications, the CCCA is the path for a truly competent Construction Contract Administrator.

The CCPR – Certified Construction Product Representative – is the path of secondary certification specializing in product representation. This certification indicates the representative is familiar with how materials are specified and can accurately give the correct information in the correct format, making the most of valuable time. The CCPR is the path for a product representative that can truly differentiate him/her from the rest.
